Kauai is an underwater gunslingers paradise and we specialize in the sport of freediving. This is a extremely demanding sport therefore we will screen prospective divers for safety reasons. We dive from the shore and swim to drop offs where we will hunt delicious and tasty game fish. We obey all state laws in regards to size and limits and take only what we can eat as to not over-fish a reef.
This is a Kahala and Uku that we took off a south shore reef. My friend Aaron missed a shot on a pair of Kahala's and as they moved off of his position they swam toward me...I dove down to about 15 feet and when they swam under me I hit the lead fish.....Aaron got a 2nd chance to hit the companion.....and missed....again!....Well as the saying goes..."better be lucky than good". Unfortunately Aaron wasn't lucky that day....but I have to thank him for missing and letting me take his fish!
This is a whiptail Uhu and is considered by many to be one of the best eating fish. Unfortunately, he has been gutted and scaled and is ready to be cooked so you cannot see the real beauty of this fish. He was taken in about 25 feet of water on Kauai's south side
This is an Omilu and is also very good eating. They are lighting fast and are usually found cruzing with a companion or in a small pack. He was taken on the west side of Kauai
We can provide 3 prongs and 90-120cm pipe guns and weight belts. Please bring your mask/snorkel, wet suit and fins. A 3mm suit is more than adequate for Hawaiian waters, our average water temperature is 73-75 degrees. Please call before you leave home for more information regarding this specialized tour.
